SUN RISING; THE SONGS THAT MADE MEMPHIS- MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET CHRISTMAS SPECIAL.

Fresh off their recent Elvis extravaganza, and due to popular demand, the annual "Sun Rising Christmas Show" is back at Ella’s Music Club on December 9th. This time, the band is set to deliver a fresh twist on their acclaimed performance by presenting selections from the iconic "Million Dollar Quartet." Step into the time machine and journey back to December 1956, a pivotal moment at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. The studio's owner, Sam Phillips, had just welcomed his latest talent, the piano prodigy Jerry Lee Lewis. This fateful day saw Lewis lending his ivory-tickling skills to a Carl Perkins' recording session. Remarkably, the enigmatic Elvis Presley, now a part of RCA although still living in Memphis, made an impromptu visit to his old haunt. Alongside them was the incomparable Johnny Cash, immersed in the Perkins recording session. The stars aligned, and a historic impromptu jam session erupted among these four musical giants. The four young musicians explored their gospel roots, touched on some classics and showcased some of their own upcoming releases. Recognizing the moment's significance, engineer Jack Clement quickly captured the unfolding magic, birthing the legendary "Million Dollar Quartet."

Following their acclaimed rock and roll performances across Australia, "Sun Rising – The Songs That Made Memphis" is excited to unveil this extraordinary Christmas Rock and Roll show exclusively at Ella’s Music Club. This event promises an unforgettable night of music and nostalgia, featuring renditions of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins classics, along with a sprinkle of festive tunes. Join us on December 9th for an evening that blends timeless melodies with historical significance. Book now to avoid disappointment!m a y.
